Director of Analog & Mixed-Signal IC Design

Position Overview

A global semiconductor organization is seeking a Director of Analog & Mixed-Signal Design to lead the development of advanced analog IC solutions across automotive, industrial, and consumer applications.

This senior leadership role combines strategic direction, technical oversight, and organizational management. The successful candidate will drive innovation in analog design, oversee global teams, and ensure delivery of high-quality silicon solutions from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Execution

• Define and execute the analog design strategy aligned with product roadmaps and business objectives.
• Translate high-level business goals into actionable engineering plans.
• Lead innovation in analog design methodologies, IP development, and verification processes.
• Guide global teams to deliver on strategic and operational targets.

Technical Leadership

• Oversee the design and delivery of analog and mixed-signal IP and full-chip solutions.
• Provide technical direction across key analog blocks, including:
  • Power management circuits (e.g., regulators)
  • Amplifiers
  • Data converters (ADCs/DACs)
  • Phase-locked loops (PLLs)
  • Power stages
• Ensure adherence to best practices, design standards, and quality benchmarks.
• Support successful silicon development from specification through tape-out and production.

Team & Organizational Development

• Lead and mentor distributed teams of analog designers and engineering managers.
• Build and maintain a high-performance, collaborative engineering culture.
• Oversee recruitment, talent development, and succession planning.
• Promote continuous learning and technical excellence across the organization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with:
  • Digital and physical design teams
  • Layout and product engineering
  • Test, validation, and manufacturing teams
• Ensure seamless integration and manufacturability of designs.
• Represent the analog design function in customer engagements and internal technical forums.
• Align engineering strategies with broader business and technology objectives.

Operational & Financial Management

• Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines.
• Ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of design projects.
• Drive continuous improvement in design efficiency, quality, and innovation.
• Lead change management initiatives to enhance organizational performance.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (PhD preferred).
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in analog or mixed-signal IC design.
• At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or management role.
• Proven track record of successful chip tape-outs and product launches.
• Deep expertise in analog design fundamentals and power management circuits.
• Experience with industry-standard design and simulation tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automotive-grade IC development and relevant compliance standards.
• Familiarity with quality and reliability requirements in regulated industries.
• Experience working in global, cross-cultural engineering organizations.
