Senior Laser Process Engineer
Position Overview
A global advanced manufacturing research organization is seeking a Senior Laser Process Engineer to develop next-generation laser-based manufacturing technologies.
This role focuses on bridging fundamental laser processing research with practical industrial applications. The successful candidate will drive innovation in ultra-precision laser material processing while enabling scalable manufacturing solutions for future high-technology products.
The position combines hands-on laboratory experimentation with strategic technology development and collaboration across research institutes and industrial partners.
Key Responsibilities
Laser Process Research & Development

Research and develop advanced laser processing technologies for future manufacturing applications.

Design and implement customized solutions suitable for scalable industrial production.
Advanced Material Processing

Develop and demonstrate innovative laser processes in areas such as:

Precision laser welding of non-metal materials
-
Micrometer-scale drilling and cutting of ceramics and crystals

Internal structuring and embedding within transparent materials (e.g., glass)

Platform Utilization & Process Innovation

Maximize the capabilities of advanced laser processing platforms, including:

Ultra-short pulse laser systems
-
Advanced beam steering technologies
-
Multi-beam scanning
-
Beam shaping techniques
-

Develop novel laser process control solutions for complex manufacturing environments.
Simulation & Process Modelling

Drive the development of multi-scale laser process simulation platforms.

Integrate modelling with experimental validation to optimize manufacturing performance.
Ecosystem Development

Identify and collaborate with global research institutions and industry partners.

Stay at the forefront of ultra-precision laser material processing technologies.
Required Qualifications

PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline.

At least 5 years of research or industrial experience in laser material processing.

Proven expertise in femtosecond (fs) laser processing technologies.

Demonstrated experience in customized equipment development for advanced laser processes.
