Experimental AMO Physicist
Experimental AMO Physicist – Neutral Atom Quantum Computing
Join a team developing scalable neutral-atom quantum computers and help advance one of the most promising platforms for fault-tolerant quantum computing. You’ll apply your expertise in experimental AMO physics to design, build, characterise, and optimise next-generation quantum processors alongside multidisciplinary teams of physicists and engineers.
What you’ll do
-
Design, build, characterise, and optimise neutral-atom quantum processors.
-
Execute measurement campaigns, monitor system performance, and maintain stable operation.
-
Investigate and mitigate sources of noise, decoherence, and gate errors.
-
Analyse experimental data to drive hardware improvements and performance optimisation.
-
Contribute new ideas by applying the latest advances in AMO physics and quantum information.
What we’re looking for
-
PhD or Postdoctoral experience in AMO Physics.
-
Hands-on experience with neutral-atom platforms or closely related experimental quantum hardware.
-
Strong experimental, debugging, and system optimisation skills.
-
Proven ability to independently drive complex experimental research.
-
Experience with experimental control, data acquisition, and data analysis (Python preferred).
-
Peer-reviewed publications in AMO Physics or Quantum Information.
Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable
-
Optical tweezers or optical lattices.
-
Rydberg atom systems.
-
Two-valence-electron atoms.
-
Atomic clocks or atom interferometry.
-
Quantum gates and neutral-atom quantum computing.
