System Integration Architect
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated System Integration Architect to take ownership of the physical integration of system components across hardware, FPGA, firmware, and user-space software layers. This role is responsible for ensuring that deliverables produced through the development and CI/CD processes can be reliably deployed, validated, and reproduced on physical hardware platforms.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with a proactive, hands-on approach to system integration, enabling stable, repeatable, and scalable deployment environments that support engineering, validation, and quality assurance activities.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, configure, and maintain physical test and validation environments.
- Deploy FPGA bitstreams, firmware, operating systems, and software applications onto target hardware platforms.
- Ensure test environments remain stable, consistent, reproducible, and ready for engineering and QA activities.
- Establish and maintain deployment standards, procedures, and system images.
- Assemble and maintain hardware test environments, including boards, power supplies, networking equipment, cabling, sensors, and peripherals.
- Flash and deploy FPGA bitstreams, firmware, bootloaders, operating systems, and software packages using tools such as JTAG, UART bootloaders, and SD card-based deployment methods.
- Perform hardware bring-up and validation for new board revisions and prototype platforms.
- Develop, document, and maintain standard deployment and provisioning procedures.
- Manage laboratory equipment, test benches, and automation infrastructure.
- Create and maintain stable, reproducible test environments using tools such as programmable power supplies, automated reset systems, fan controllers, and network switching solutions.
- Prepare and maintain golden images, deployment packages, and reference system configurations for engineering and QA teams.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, FPGA, firmware, and software engineering teams to support integration and troubleshooting activities.
- Identify and resolve deployment, configuration, and integration issues across the full system stack.
Requirements
- Proven experience with embedded system bring-up and hardware integration.
- Strong knowledge of JTAG, SWD, USB-to-UART interfaces, and SPI/I²C debugging techniques.
- Experience with FPGA configuration and flashing processes.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including network configuration, routing, cabling, and network management.
- Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of embedded Linux systems, including bootloaders, kernels, device trees, and system initialization.
- Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments alongside hardware and software development teams.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and documentation skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience using serial consoles, oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and other laboratory test equipment.
- Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
- Familiarity with Labgrid or similar hardware test automation frameworks.
- Strong technical documentation and process-development capabilities.
- Linux Foundation certifications such as LFCA or LFCS.
