The Opportunity

European Tech Recruit is currently recruiting an experienced Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity at a major pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Cork.

The successful candidate will act as a Process Safety SME, supporting manufacturing operations, engineering projects and the wider EHS organisation.

The position will have significant involvement across HAZOP, SIL/LOPA, ATEX, SEVESO III, Change Control and Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Process Safety Management and general EHS support across the manufacturing site.
• Support HAZOP assessments for equipment and capital projects.
• Coordinate and support the site’s HAZOP Revalidation programme.
• Perform/support Process Safety risk assessments including SIL, LOPA and ATEX.
• Assess proposed equipment and project changes from a Process Safety perspective as part of the site’s Change Control process.
• Support Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR).
• Troubleshoot Process Safety issues associated with manufacturing operations.
• Support continued compliance with SEVESO III requirements.
• Develop and implement improvements to the Process Safety Management System.
• Develop and deliver Process Safety training.
• Generate and report Process Safety metrics and trends.
• Participate in incident and accident investigations and Root Cause Analysis.
• Support EHS Management System self-assessments and audits.
• Perform site walkdowns, audits and programme reviews.
• Support site Risk Assessment, JSA and Permit-to-Work programmes.

Required Experience

• Relevant Engineering, Process Safety, Chemical Engineering, EHS or related technical qualification.
• Strong Process Safety / PSM experience within a process manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on HAZOP experience.
• Knowledge and practical experience of SIL and LOPA assessments.
• Strong understanding of ATEX.
• Knowledge of SEVESO III regulatory requirements.
• Experience supporting equipment and capital projects from a Process Safety perspective.
• Experience with Change Control and PSSR.
• Strong Root Cause Analysis and incident investigation capability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Experience within Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Chemical or another highly regulated process manufacturing environment would be highly desirable.
