Mechanical Design Engineer
You will be joining a world-leading technology company at their manufacturing technology centre in Weilheim (greater Munich).
We are seeking a skilled engineer to architect and implement high-precision mechatronic and opto-mechatronic units intended for large-scale production machinery. This role involves taking concepts from initial design through to physical prototyping and rigorous testing within a specialized laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- System Development: Engineer intricate mechatronic assemblies designed for micron-level accuracy within industrial manufacturing systems.
- Prototyping & Design: Generate comprehensive 3D models and technical documentation while overseeing the creation of physical mock-ups to evaluate performance metrics.
- Testing & Validation: Establish detailed protocols for verifying system efficacy and configure the necessary laboratory environments for testing.
- Supply Chain Management: Manage the Bill of Materials (BOM), source critical components from specialized vendors, and facilitate the procurement process.
- Integration & Assembly: Lead the hands-on assembly of initial prototypes and coordinate internal verification cycles.
- Collaboration & Reporting: Synthesize test data into formal reports and act as a technical liaison for both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field.
- 3+ years of experience in high-precision hardware, with a preference for experience in semiconductor assembly or testing equipment
- Deep understanding of the semiconductor manufacturing landscape and expertise in core technologies such as motion control, sensors, pneumatics, and advanced material processing.
- Solid understanding of optical sensor technologies & laser process heads, including triangulation, imaging, cooling, & vibration isolation.
- Skilled in utilizing multi-physics simulation tools and advanced design optimization methodologies
- Practical experience with ultra-precision measurement standards and 100nm-class metrology tools
- Proven capability to flourish within diverse, international, and multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Ability to identify and cultivate partnerships with vendors capable of delivering cutting-edge technical solutions
