Programmatic Bidding Data Scientist – Contractor
Data Scientist – Programmatic Bidding & Advertising Optimization
Position Overview
A global technology organization is seeking a Data Scientist to support the development and optimization of programmatic advertising bidding systems.
This role focuses on applying data science and machine learning techniques to improve bidding performance, optimize ad delivery strategies, and bridge regional implementation with global algorithm development. The position combines data analysis, model development, and cross-team collaboration in a large-scale data environment.
Key Responsibilities
Algorithm Development & Optimization

Implement and refine bidding strategies for programmatic advertising systems.

Contribute to the development of machine learning models that optimize auction performance and ad delivery.

Support continuous improvement of bidding algorithms through iterative experimentation.
Data Engineering & Feature Development
-
Process and analyze large-scale datasets to extract meaningful features for model training.
-
Build data pipelines and workflows to support model development and evaluation.
-
Ensure data quality and consistency across systems.
Data Analysis & Performance Insights
-
Conduct in-depth analysis of advertising performance data to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities.

Generate actionable insights to improve bidding efficiency and campaign outcomes.
Model Evaluation & Experimentation
-
Design and execute A/B tests and offline simulations to evaluate new models and features.
-
Monitor model performance and validate improvements against key metrics.
Cross-Team Collaboration
-
Act as a technical liaison between local teams and global engineering or data science groups.

Translate algorithm updates into production-ready implementations.

Ensure alignment in system versions, methodologies, and performance standards.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.

1–3 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a related domain.

Strong understanding of:

Data structures and algorithms

Statistical analysis

Machine learning techniques (supervised and unsupervised)

Proficiency in Python and common data science libraries such as:

Pandas

Scikit-learn

PyTorch or TensorFlow

Experience working with large-scale datasets using tools such as:

Spark

Hadoop

Strong problem-solving skills with ability to translate business needs into data-driven solutions.

Fluency in Mandarin and English, with strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with reinforcement learning or sequential decision-making models.

Background in programmatic advertising, ad tech, or auction-based systems.

Familiarity with real-time bidding (RTB) systems and performance optimization.

Experience working in distributed or global team environments.
