Senior Experimental AMO Physicist
Senior Experimental AMO Physicist – Neutral Atom Quantum Computing
Play a leading role in the development of next-generation neutral-atom quantum computers. This senior position is ideal for an experienced experimental AMO physicist who can drive technical direction, influence system architecture, and mentor colleagues while advancing cutting-edge quantum hardware.
What you’ll do
-
Design, build, characterise, and optimise neutral-atom quantum processors.

Lead measurement campaigns, monitor system performance, and improve operational stability.

Identify and mitigate sources of noise, decoherence, and gate errors to enhance system performance.
-
Analyse experimental data to inform design decisions and hardware improvements.
-
Drive architecture decisions and provide technical leadership across the quantum processing unit.
-
Mentor scientists and engineers while contributing to the team’s technical growth.

Apply the latest advances in AMO physics and quantum information to accelerate development.
What we’re looking for
-
PhD in Experimental AMO Physics or a closely related field, plus 5+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience.

Proven track record designing, building, and advancing complex neutral-atom or comparable experimental quantum systems.

Deep expertise in one or more of the following:
-
Optical tweezers or optical lattices
-
Rydberg atom systems
-
Two-valence-electron atoms
-
Atomic clocks or atom interferometry
-
Quantum gates and neutral-atom quantum computing
-

Experience mentoring scientists or engineers.
-
Grant writing and research project experience is an advantage.
