Senior Avionics Engineer
We’re partnering with a cutting-edge aerospace startup developing next-generation Earth return vehicles. Their mission is to build reliable, high-performance spacecraft capable of returning payloads from orbit, requiring tightly integrated hardware systems across avionics, guidance, and flight software. They are now hiring a Senior Avionics Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of avionics subsystems and play a critical role in delivering flight-ready hardware.
This is a highly cross-functional position, working at the intersection of hardware, software, and flight dynamics, with direct impact on mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Design and own electrical architectures for spacecraft avionics systems, including circuit design, schematic capture, and PCBA layout.
-
Develop custom electrical harnesses and oversee their manufacturing and integration.
-
Build and support ground test systems, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) and FlatSat environments.
-
Lead root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of avionics and electronics issues across both flight and ground systems.
-
Collaborate closely with GNC, software, and aerodynamics teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware, firmware, and software components.
Key Qualifications:
-
6–10 years of experience in full lifecycle avionics or electrical hardware development within aerospace applications.
-
Hands-on experience with hardware that has been flown or integrated into spacecraft, re-entry vehicles, or defense platforms.
-
Strong experience across the full PCB/PCBA lifecycle, including design, layout, assembly, and system integration.
-
Experience working in startups or small, fast-paced teams with high ownership.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
-
Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture, PCB layout, and integration.
-
Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, and electronic loads.
-
Experience with Python scripting for hardware testing and automation.
