Electrical Engineer
We’re partnering with an advanced manufacturing startup that is pioneering AI-native factory systems, integrating software, hardware, and physics to produce industrial-scale parts at human ideation speed. By treating manufacturing as a single unified system, the company enables complex hardware to be designed, built, and scaled without traditional limits. They are now hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to help design and deploy the custom electronics and sensor-driven control systems powering their next-generation autonomous metal 3D printing factory platform.
This role is ideal for engineers who thrive on first-principles problem solving, enjoy working across mechanical, software, and controls teams, and can deliver robust hardware in a fast-paced, technically intense environment.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Design, integrate, and deploy custom electronics for high-speed sensing, data acquisition, and real-time control across an autonomous 3D printing factory platform.
-
Own full lifecycle hardware development, including electrical architecture, requirements definition, component selection, schematic capture, PCB design support, prototyping, bring-up, debugging, validation, and productionization.
-
Build and maintain compute-heavy systems, including electrical backbones for high-performance computing stacks with FPGAs and GPUs, ensuring timing, throughput, and reliability.
-
Develop and use lab test setups and instrumentation to debug complex system-level issues and transition designs from bench to field.
-
Expand team bandwidth by taking ownership of major subsystems and driving them through validation and deployment.
-
Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, controls, and manufacturing teams to deliver innovative systems in a “build while flying” environment.
Key Qualifications:
-
3–8 years of experience designing and developing complex electrical hardware from scratch.
-
Proven experience owning full lifecycle custom electronics projects.
-
Background in robotics, aerospace, EV, semiconductor, or other high-tech hardware companies.
-
Experience working on compute-heavy systems, particularly with FPGAs and GPUs.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; GPA 3.5+ preferred if within 5 years of graduation.
-
Proficiency in schematic design, PCB layout, and circuit analysis.
-
Experience with high-speed data acquisition and/or motion control systems.
-
Comfortable operating in ambiguity and taking ownership of first-of-its-kind systems.
-
Must be on-site 5 days/week in Hawthorne, CA.
-
Must be a US resident due to ITAR restrictions.
