Field Applications Engineer – Power Electronics
Field Application Engineer – Power Electronics (Data Centre)
Location: Taipei, Taiwan
The Opportunity
Our client is a leading global semiconductor company at the forefront of power management, industrial electronics and AI infrastructure technologies. As demand for high-performance data centre solutions continues to grow, they are expanding their technical Field Application Engineering team in Taiwan.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Field Application Engineer with a background in power electronics to work alongside some of the region’s leading OEMs and ODMs, supporting the development of next-generation power conversion solutions for AI and data centre applications.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with customer-facing skills, helping customers successfully evaluate, design and implement advanced power semiconductor solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for customers developing high-performance power conversion systems for AI and data centre applications.
- Support the design, development, testing and validation of AC-DC and DC-DC converters, power supplies and power management systems.
- Assist customers throughout the design-in process, from concept evaluation through to production.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues relating to power conversion, thermal performance, EMI/EMC and overall system reliability.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Product teams to support customer projects and identify new design opportunities.
- Capture customer feedback and market trends to support future product development.
- Develop and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations and application-focused training.
- Support PCB layout reviews and provide recommendations for high-current, high-frequency power electronics designs.
- Participate in customer design reviews, prototype bring-up and qualification activities.
- Build long-term technical relationships with key customer engineering teams.
- Collaborate with global engineering and product development teams to deliver world-class customer support.
- Travel to customer sites across Taiwan as required.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- 3–5+ years’ experience within Field Applications, Power Electronics or Applications Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of high-efficiency AC-DC and DC-DC converter design.
- Experience working with modern power semiconductor technologies including SiC, GaN and MOSFET-based power solutions.
- Understanding of data centre power architectures, including high-voltage and 48V power distribution environments.
- Experience with PCB design and layout review using tools such as Altium Designer or similar electronic CAD software.
- Knowledge of transformer design, magnetic components and high-frequency power conversion techniques.
- Exposure to digital power control, embedded firmware or microcontroller-based control systems would be advantageous.
- Hands-on experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analysers and spectrum analysers.
- Familiarity with thermal management, reliability testing and EMI/EMC compliance.
- Previous experience supporting OEMs, ODMs or system integrators within the semiconductor or power electronics industry.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
